Victor Braunig Lake and Calaveras Lake, which were impounded in 1962 and 1969, respectively, were two of the first reservoirs constructed in the United States to utilize recycled, treated wastewater for power plant cooling, therefore lowering the quantity of groundwater required for electrical generating.
