Located in the heart of Texas A&M University campus, the Bonfire Memorial is a powerful symbol of strength, resilience and camaraderie. The memorial commemorates the 12 Aggies who lost their lives during the tragic collapse of Bonfire in 1999. It is a testament to the university’s enduring spirit and commitment to honor those who have gone before us. The Bonfire was a long-standing tradition at Texas A&M University, where students gathered every year to build a towering structure from logs as high as 90 feet tall. However, on November 18th, 1999 tragedy struck when the stack collapsed killing twelve students and injuring twenty-seven others. In response to this tragedy, thousands came together across campus and beyond to rebuild and strengthen their community spirit.
