Leander, Texas, is a beautiful place in southern Texas, about an hour east of Austin and about fifty miles west of San Antonio. The official name of the city is “The Settlement of Texas Plain.” Leander’s most notable landmark is the Classen Memorial Fountain. The attraction includes the Tower of the Majestic, a replica of the Eiffel Tower, the Leander Historical Center, and the Breckenridge Center for the Arts, among other attractions. Leander offers many other activities. The first Texas Woman’s Museum is located on the campus, along with the Texas Medical History Museum, the Charles F. Haan School of Nursing at Lackland Air Force Base, and the Richard W. Davis Museum of State Public Health. The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library are two other important buildings. A number of hotels, restaurants, and bed-and-breakfasts are available around the city. Leander has many attractions for visitors, one of which is the Historic Colonel Clements Memorial Museum. This museum has one of the largest collections of civil war memorabilia in Texas. Also located in the area are Leander, Texas State History Museum, the William B. Travis State Historic Site, and the Robert E. Lee Gallery. The best time to visit Leander is during the off-season, from January to March, as the climate is milder. The summertime is often crowded, but if you plan well enough, you can avoid it altogether and still enjoy the beautiful outdoors, some of the best swimming and fishing in the country, a variety of outdoor activities, shopping, and dining at reasonable prices.
